Real World Giant Miscanthus is a woody perennial grass native to Asia that can grow to be over 12 feet tall. This is a nonnative grass that does NOT produce viable seed. Giant Miscanthus is planted via rhizomes at a depth of 4 inches spaced at 18"-24" apart. Each rhizome will grow 4" to 6" wider per year and fill in to create a dense hedge. We recommend three to five rows for a good screen. Think of Giant Miscanthus as you would corn- it prefers full sun and doesn't like wet feet. If you're needing something that is more water tolerant, consider switch grass. Giant Miscanthus comes with 100 rhizomes per bag. The more you purchase, the better the price.
